3D Impressions Help - Picture Albums |
|
Picture Albums are a way of specifying a series of pictures to be displayed on an object's material turning it into a slide show.
The Picture Albums Manager is where you can create and modify these collections of images.
Creating Picture Albums
To access the Picture Albums Manager, select the program's 'Design' ribbon category and click the 'Manage Picture Albums' button.
You can now click the 'Add...' button.
This will present you with the Picture Album screen where you can give your album a title and choose which pictures are in it.
For information on how to customize your Picture Album, see the section below.
Modifying Picture Albums
As well as accessing all your picture albums with the manager, you can also edit a specific Picture Album by double-clicking its entry in the 'Objects List' tool window.
Album Name
This is where you can give your album a friendly which will be useful when selecting it for use within an object's material.
Picture Sources
Here you list in order the pictures you wish to be part of the album.
Using the 'Add' buttons, pictures can be specified from the following source locations:
File |
This allows you to use a picture file from a local or remote storage device.
Click the 'Add File...' button to select your required file.
For advanced users, you may select a network path to reference a file from a network shared location, although you must make sure that all required users have suitable read permissions.
|
Folder |
This allows you to use a picture file randomly chosen from a local or remote folder.
Click the 'Add Folder...' button to select your required folder location.
For advanced users, you may use a network path to reference a network shared folder, although you must make sure that all required users have suitable read permissions.
|
URL |
This allows you to use a picture file from the web or other Internet or Intranet location.
Click the 'Add URL...' button to enter the URL to the supported image file.
Both http:// and https:// prefixes are accepted.
When a URL is specified, the target picture is downloaded and cached locally once every 24 hours.
If subsequent requests to re-download the image fail, such as when the computer or web server is offline, the cached version will be reused.

The order you specify your pictures in determines the order that they are displayed upon those objects using the album.
To modify the list order, you can use the 'Move Up' and 'Move Down' buttons.
An object that uses an album, displays the 1st picture source when it 1st appears.
As the object leaves and re-enters the scene through its Motion Effects, it moves to the next album picture source in the list.
So for example:
If an album contains a file, folder and URL picture in that order, the sequence displayed will be:
file
» folder's random picture 1
» URL
» file
» folder's random picture 2
» URL
» etc.
